Access recordings of class performances:
PreK & Kindergarten: Students learned twelve verses of A Peanut Sat on a Railroad Track, and have been practicing their performer and audience skills, demonstrating the ability to sing songs with confidence and sit quietly as others perform, in preparation for the music showcase on June 10. 1st & 2nd Grade: Students have been learning to identify and locate notes on the keyboard / piano. As part of these lessons, they have been composing their own melodies using the notes C, D, and E and learning to play “Hot Cross Buns” on the keyboard. They also started working on music for the upcoming music showcase on June 10. 1st grade is working on El Coqui and 2nd grade is working on Purple Ocean. 3rd & 4th Grade: Students have been learning to tune and play the ukulele by identifying the strings (G, C, E, and A), plucking the open strings, and learning to strum the C chord. In addition, they have started practicing for the music recital on June 10. 3rd grade is working on Funga Alafia and 4th grade is working on Frere Jacques. 5th & 6th Grade: Students wrapped up working on their music compositions and have begun preparing for the upcoming music showcase on June 10. 5th grade will be singing Mama Don’t Allow and 6th grade will be singing Yellow Submarine. 5th Grade Chester Update: Students have been working hard on the Finding Nemo musical. They are now off scripts and have completed a full runthrough of the production. They are nearly ready for their big night at the Gateway Performing Arts Center on June 4!
