Band is an exciting opportunity for students to expand their musical skills while teaching discipline, teamwork, confidence, fine motor skills, and more. Students can choose from six instruments:
To participate in band, instruments can be rented from Gerry's Music in South Hadley, and students will be required to buy the band lesson book Standard of Excellence Book 1 Enhanced. Students who learn to play an instrument can use this knowledge and skill far beyond the music room. There is nothing quite like the joy of performing music with family and friends, and this joy can be carried into their adult lives, too, because learning to play an instrument at a young age can stimulate the brain in unique ways. Studies have shown that playing musical instruments enhances a student's academic performance in math, language arts, foreign language, and other academic areas.
